Description

The MGC27 is a fast and agile cruiser with a blend of responsiveness, easy handling and good manners that few can resist. The practical layout includes a separate heads aft, good sized galley and aft double cabin. 'Megan' had a new Beta engine fitted in 2018 and is the lift keel version of the MGC27 making her ideal for exploring the East Coast rivers. ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation offers up to six berths in two cabins. V berth forward. In saloon, two settee berths. Fixed table with drop leaves. Chart table to starboard with galley opposite. Plastimo Neptune 2000 two burner gimballed gas cooker with grill and oven. Stainless steel sink. Separate heads compartment with Jabsco marine toilet and washbasin. Aft cabin with double berth. Hand pumped freshwater supply to sink and basin.

MECHANICAL SYSTEMS
Located abaft the companionway, Beta B14, twin cyliner, 13hp diesel engine was fitted new in 2018. Electric start. Seawater cooled via heat exchanger. Saildrive to Brunton Varifold folding two-bladed propeller (propeller new 2019). New saildrive diaphragm 2018. Single lever control. 45-litre fuel capacity in stainless steel tank. 
 

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
Alternator charging to 2 x 12 volt batteries.

SAILS AND SPARS
Fractionally rigged sloop. Silver anodised aluminium single spreader deck stepped Proctor mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2020). Self-tacking jib track on coachroof. Three reef slab reefing mainsail with stackpack. Two Lewmar 30 sheet winches. Two Lewmar 16 Halyard winches. Single Lewmar 16 reefing winch on mast.

CONSTRUCTION
Built in 1987 by MG Yachts in Glasgow to a design by Rob Humphreys. White GRP hull with style stripes. Alloy toe rail. White GRP superstructure with moulded non-slip decks. Lifting keel operated via a winch handle on the aft end of the saloon table. Lifting plate and mechanism inspected in April 2019. Minimum draft 3'2" with the keel up increases to 5'10" when the keel is lowered. Tiller steering to transom hung lifting rudder. Aft self-draining cockpit. The underwater hull was copper-coated in 2015 and the lifting keel is conventionally antifouled.
